Dancing in the Moonlight of Midnight
As soon as the clock struck twelve
The moon began to call his name
Consuming his ever-loving soul
Shading every inch of his skin with a desire
To grow
To become
To want
To live
He danced in this moonlight
Laughing as it pulled the waves in and controlled the tide
Knowing he would never be controlled in the same way
Stars and constellations would watch him
Intrigued by his beauty
Jealous of his innocence
They began gossiping poison into the wind
Carrying it to every branch and every blade of grass
Pounding his heart and filling his eyes with a fear
Yet he would brush this fear aside and he would continue to dance in the moonlight
Because he was the fear itself
The fear of dancing too far that he would merge into the waves and drown in his own confidence
Of what he could become
Of what he was meant to be
The very fear that broke him down built him back again
And he was back for good
He was back to stay
